The Sculptors are sculpting

The giant blocks of snow have been delivered and the Sculptors are ready to sculpt.

The groundhog says 6 more weeks of winter and if it continues like this…I’m all for it.  No matter the weather though, Lake Geneva is always to place to be.  You will find activities happening all year long.

Last year we had about 2 feet of snow to navigate and although treacherous, it was also kind of fun.  We don’t have the snow this year and that makes it so much easier to get around and enjoy all the sights of our lovely village.

Monday & Tuesday, January 30–31
Riviera Park – building of the 9-foot snow blocks
Wednesday-Friday, February 1–3
Riviera Park - 10 AM – 5:30 PM – teams at work sculpting
Saturday, February 4
Riviera Park – 11 AM “shovels down”, sculpting ends. 11 AM – 2 PM “Peoples’ Choice Award” voting (ballots are distributed on site). 3 PM – crowning of the US National Snow Sculpting Competition Champion’s Award, second, third place and the Peoples’ Choice award at the beautiful and famed Riviera on the lakefront in downtown Lake Geneva.

Grand Geneva Resort & Spa – Winter Carnival Activities
Saturday, February 4
This annual event at The Mountain Top goes from 10 AM – 8 PM and includes ski school and ski patrol demonstrations, snowboarding and skiing competitions, and a myriad of children’s games and snow activities. Festivities conclude with a torch light parade involving more than 100 members of the resort’s ski school staff and a ‘Grand Fireworks’ display at 8 PM. 262-248-8811

Snow bikes only (3.7″ minimum tire width)

No FatBike? – No Problem! – Join the rider pool

Teams can share a snowbike (or ride their own)

Teams are formed the day of the race or you can bring your own team. If you bring your own team, you may have to put a teammate into the draft for other teams to acquire in the rider draft.

Riders that bring a snowbike sign up as Team Captains or be part of the rider pool. Team Captains pick riders from the rider pool to form a team – 3 people per team minimum. Captain’s draft order determined by pre-race.

Teams race, derby-style, for 3 hours – Team with the most laps wins!

$35 per rider – Helmets Required

How do you feel about this crazy weather around Lake Geneva

Well we definitely did not have a “white Christmas ” this year and although it was a little tough for me to get in the shopping spirit I was eventually ok with it.  Now I am feeling a little out of whack about the weather.  I’m just not used to the temperatures when they drop down and usually I’m warm in the winter when it hits 32*.   I am thinking that I should get out and enjoy every bit of these temperatures because I know that it will soon be 0* and it will be bundle up time for me.  Lake Geneva is still a great place to visit all year round and The Mill Creek Hotel keeps its guests cozy with a fireplace in every suite, and a large whirlpool tub in every suite bathroom.  You will also enjoy the indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center and free wi-fi.  I think possibly the best you will find at The Mill Creek Hotel is the friendly, and personable staff.  Our property is small and we often get to know our guests by name (if you want us, too).  Sort of like “Cheers” for the hospitality industry.
