The Lake Geneva Festival of Lights is happening this weekend in downtown Lake Geneva.  The weather may not feel much like Christmas in Wisconsin, but it will definitely make it easy to enjoy all the outdoor activities, like the Tree Lighting, Electric Parade and live reindeer with Santa and his elves.

What is the Beer & Spirits Festival?

: Saturday, September 29, 2012 to Sunday, September 30, 2012 Home to the only remaining streetcar from the Milwaukee transit system still running the rails today, the East Troy Electric Railroad celebrates Milwaukee’s rich railcar history during Milwaukee Days. Joining the 1920 built streetcar, which once whisked residents from the greater Milwaukee area to the ballpark and shopping centers, is a 1907 line car equipped to respond to trolley emergencies. Also featured during the weekend is L8, a stately locomotive built in 1935 that once provided track maintenance, brush-cutting services and was fitted with a snow plow to keep the tracks clear for line maintenance and freight service. The Gladiator Assault Challenge obstacle course is a series of challenging physical obstacles an individual or team must navigate. The 5 – 7 mile course will challenge you with  running, climbing, jumping, crawling and balancing elements with the aim of testing overall endurance. Join friends and family for the 5th annual walk a non-competitive walk on the beautiful Geneva Lake shore path to help support and educate in the prevention of breast cancer. Proceeds of this year’s Hope Walk will go to “Aurora Healthcare Breast Treatment Assistance Program” to support women who are uninsured an under insured who might not seek the care they need without financial assistance.    Registration/Check In and start time is 7-9 a.m. at Library Park in Lake Geneva. The walk will go from Library Park to Williams Bay and back.  The walk will go from Library Park, Lake Geneva to Edgewood Park, Williams Bay and back. (This is a 14 mile round trip or about 5 hours) OR there is 5 mile option that starts at Library Park and returns.

This weekend there will be a Classic Boat Show at The Abbey Resort in Fontana and we are sure that Lake Geneva, WI. visitors will love attending this event.  At The Abbey Resort, Fontana-on-Geneva Lake. Boats will be on display all weekend beginning at 10am. Showcasing major boat manufacturers, Chris Craft, Century, Streblow, Hacker, Gar Wood and many more. Vendors will have items for sale and a Boat Parade at 4:00 PM on Saturday. Admission is free.

Geneva Lake Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show

“Boats will be on exhibit all day Saturday, beginning at 10:00 am. Be sure you have  your boat in the water by then, as we expect a lot of spectators. Local vendors  will have items on display, and the Blackhawk Chapter’s tent will once again offer  t-shirts, posters and other items. The annual “starting of the engines” and boat parade will commence at 4:00 pm.

Saturday evening’s dinner will be held in the Ball Room at the Abbey Resort. Cash  bar will open at 6:00 PM, followed by a dinner at 7:30, cost is $50 per person. This is an event you won’t want to miss, as boat show awards will be presented at Saturday evening’s dinner.

Sunday, boats will be on exhibit again at 10 am. People’s Choice award and drawing  winners announced at Blackhawk tent at 2 pm. Each year we have many spectators who attend the boat show on Sunday afternoon expecting to see the full line-up of boats on display. Therefore, participants are asked to leave their boats in the water  (and land displays intact) on Sunday until 3:00 pm when the boat show officially ends.”
