Lake Geneva Baker House Fire and Ice Lounge Opening Soon

The historic Baker House,in downtown Lake Geneva, home of Wisconsin’s very first Ice Bar, will once again be transforming its lakefront garden into a winter wonderland featuring their 3rd annual ‘Fire & Ice Lounge’. (this is re-posted with permission from The Baker House press release)

Festivities at the downtown hotel & restaurant will coincide with the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition in downtown and will officially begin Friday, February 1st at 4pm with the ringing of the mansion bell-tower and ceremonial first run of the ice luge. The brilliance of the ‘Fire & Ice Lounge’ at sunset becomes heavenly with the appearance of ‘Ice Angels’ serving fireside drinks in cups made entirely of ice. There will be an array of savory delights and hot toddy’s available as well as the Baker House Signature Snow-cones topped with flavor infused SKYY vodkas. For those who prefer something a little less chilly, there will be warm ‘Fancy Shanty’s’ with fur covered benches and fireplaces to sit by.

This year’s icy extravaganza promises to be the most spectacular event yet, with a 10 foot custom carved Ice Bar, created by Guinness Book record holder and international award winning artist Max Zuleta of Art Below Zero who will be performing a dramatic ice sculpting show 4pm on Saturday, February 2nd. “This will be our best Ice Bar to date and with SKYY Vodka as a Premier Sponsor we are sure to have a magical time,” says Bethany Souza, of HGTV’s “Design To Sell” and Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Baker House.

Lake Geneva Happy Halloween Greetings

Greetings, and Happy Halloween from The Mill Creek Hotel in Lake Geneva. I think that most visitors celebrated Halloween last weekend, so it may be rather quiet around here tonight. The downtown Lake Geneva businesses handed out candy to trick or treaters on Sunday, but tonight is the big regular Trick or Treat evening.

Do you have any favorite ways to enjoy Halloween? For us, kids go out trick or treating (with adult supervision), and after we usually get together for pizza, drinks, and listening to the kids retell any spooky evening goings on. Back in my hometown, we would go out the 30th and the 31st, and we would have 2 different costumes and just have way too much candy. There would also be those houses that gave homemade candy apples and the like. I remember that I would never eat any unsealed item, but my friends did. It was a different time; but not all of it was safe, I just think maybe we weren’t informed as well.

I think that the downtown Lake Geneva businesses giving out Trick or Treat candy is a great idea. I know that many towns are participating in this kind of event these days. Some even with a theme party and other activities going on all day. It brings people together and helps to promote a sense of community.

I encourage you to come visit Lake Geneva this autumn. The recent winds and rain have removed a lot of our beautiful foliage, but the town and Geneva Lake are still just beautiful.
